Our team of emergency professionals are not only dedicated to their job, but also to continuing education, certification, and quality care. Extensive training and continuing education is required for all of MEMS medical personnel. To accommodate the continuous improvements in emergency techniques, medical skills, and trauma management, we offer some of our training courses to the public at large. We provide instruction from a fully qualified staff who have expertise in many different fields and disciplines. Because we operate on a 24 hour basis, our classes are taught at various times of the day or evening, and several times a year. We provide over 600 hours of classroom instruction each year. We have a fully equipped, state-of-the-art training facility utilizing computer, video, and projection technology. Most of our training includes "hands on" experience with actual equipment used in the field. Individual attention is given to each student in order to insure that the student understands the topic being taught, not just enough to pass a test. MEMS education budget for this year is approximately $300,000. This amount includes the cost of supplies, manuals, instructors, and compensation to the MEMS personnel who attend classes. The annual expenditure for education does not take into account the cost of the staff who plan and coordinate the classes, nor does it take into account the cost of using our facilities. We also have a state of the art training facility that includes modern audio and visual equipment, computer based training technology, props, field equipment, lifelike mannequins, videos, and many other up to date techniques and tools for insuring our students of the best possible training environment of its kind.
