Special Operations Response Team

Known collectively as the "Mad Hatters", this 18 person team is made up of both EMTs and Paramedics who provide specialized training and skill sets in response to various types of high-risk incidents to include:

  • Hazardous Materials Incidents (HAZMAT)
  • Swift Water Rescue Incidents (WRT)
  • Mass Casualty Incidents (MCI)
  • High-Impact Incidents
  • Search and Rescue (SAR)*

In addition to maintaining all certifications for their EMS license, team members must maintain “Operations” level status in each rescue discipline with at least one rescue discipline at the “Technician” level.  

*Members of this team are eligible for selection to Arkansas Task Force One (AR-TF-1) as USAR "Medical Specialists".’
